Pediatric Rehabilitation

Jackson’s Child and Adolescent Rehabilitation program provides a warm and friendly environment for pediatric and adolescent patients. This program is an integral part of the care delivered at Holtz Children’s Hospital and outpatient medical and rehabilitation care.

Overview

Pediatric rehabilitation services begin with a thorough evaluation to identify the child’s needs and determine the most effective program of individual and group therapies. Both children and parents provide their own input regarding goals, concerns, and treatment preferences.

Our coordinated team effort includes parents, our multidisciplinary staff and a host of community services. We are dedicated to providing quality, family-centered health care in a sensitive, loving, home-like environment.

It is especially important to us that the child’s caretakers expand their understanding of the child’s medical condition and learn how to better meet their child’s needs. Because we are part of a world-class medical center, we can easily consult with pediatricians, psychologists, dietitians, social workers, and child life therapists through our network of physicians.

In addition, Miami-Dade County Public Schools teachers work one-on-one with pediatric rehabilitation patients, helping them with their academic skills. Because education is an essential part of Jackson’s rehabilitation program, parents receive extensive information about their child’s condition, likely outcomes and resources for short- or long-term support.
