A Collaboration With The Miami Project to Cure Paralysis

UHealth Jackson Rehabilitation Care, in collaboration with The Miami Project to Cure Paralysis, has provided comprehensive rehabilitative care to adults, adolescents, and children for more than 30 years.

In addition to helping patients and their families through the recovery process, our goal is to ensure that patients achieve their greatest potential.

In 1985, UHealth neurosurgeon Barth A. Green, MD, and NFL Hall of Fame linebacker Nick Buoniconti helped found The Miami Project to Cure Paralysis after Nick’s son, Marc, sustained a spinal cord injury during a college football game. Today, The Miami Project is the world’s most comprehensive spinal cord injury (SCI) research center.

The Christine E. Lynn Rehabilitation Center for The Miami Project to Cure Paralysis at UHealth/Jackson Memorial is one of the world’s premiere rehabilitation hospitals. Adult and pediatric patients with spinal cord injuries and traumatic brain injuries benefit from the new, state-of-the-art, 250,000-square-foot facility, which includes:

  • 80 inpatient beds in an 250,000 square-foot, nine-story tower on the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Medical Center campus
  • Separate gyms for acute inpatient care, outpatient care, pediatric care, and individual specialty care
  • Aquatic center, featuring a HydroWorx therapy pool with underwater treadmill
  • Equipment and features to reintegrate patients to daily life, including full-size car, airplane seats, driving simulator, and more
  • Patient- and family-centered design, including inpatient suites with fully integrated patient care technology
  • The latest rehabilitation technology, including Bioness Integrated Therapy System, Ekso Bionics exoskeletons, five ZeroG Gait and Balance Systems
